This is the question that I have been asking everyone as I have been out listening to our community for the last 4 years. Now it's time to deliver!
What you’ve told me
Over the last 4 years the theme has been the same. Mackay and Whitsunday residents haven’t been getting our fair share.
We’ve had 10 years of a Labor government which has demonstrated:
❌ a lack of community consultation
❌ projects stalled & budget blowouts
❌ wrong priorities for our region
The major issues people continue to raise with me are cost of living, crime, health, housing supply issues and of course, the state of our roads, especially the Bruce Highway.
The LNP’s plan:
The LNP has the Right Plan for Queensland’s Future:
A plan to restore safety where you live.
A plan to reinstate health services when you need them.
A plan to return respect for your money.
A plan to reimagine a place to call home.
A plan to redesign a government that works for you.
My plan for our region:
My first priority will be to stop Labor’s delays and commence projects that have sat idle under this Labor government for too long. With the first two projects being:
✅Shute Harbour Road, Hamilton Plains flood immunity project and
✅Mackay Bucasia Road upgrade to ease traffic congestion and support growth
Our fair share:
A future LNP Government has already made significant commitments to our region.
Roads
An LNP Government will work with the federal government to restore an 80/20 road funding split between the state and federal government. The current Qld government allowed this to be changed to a 50/50 split, resulting in many road projects across Qld being shelved.
🛣️Mackay Bucasia Road Upgrade - $20M to start construction to ease traffic congestion, beginning with the Golf Links Road intersection.
Local Sporting Infrastructure
⚽Dolphins Football Club - $250,000 - for upgrades to the clubhouse and facilities
🏈Proserpine Rugby League - $75,000 - to fund a commercial kitchen in the clubhouse upgrades
🌅Airlie Bowls Club - $100,000 - to upgrade clubhouse
🏊🏻Eimeo SLSC - $50,000 - to masterplan the club’s expansion
🏗Northern Beaches Bowls Club - $500,000 - to install all-weather shade covering for the bowling greens
🏐 Mackay Netball - $1.6M - to install shade coverings to the netball courts
⚽Mackay Football - $800,000 - to expand the carpark at Mackay Football park
🏑Mackay Hockey - $800,00 - to build an indoor hockey facility
🏟️Great Barrier Reef Arena - $23.5M- to start construction on stage 2 of the GBR Arena at Harrup Park to boost grassroots sport participation
🌇Eco-tourism Infrastructure
🌅Whitsunday Skyways project - $5M - to start construction on the Skyways project
🚤Local Boating Infrastructure
🚤Shute Bay Boat Ramp - $10m - to construct a new 4 lane boat ramp and carpark at Shute Bay
🏠Local housing support
🏠Chances House - $10M - to deliver emergency housing relief to more vulnerable families in our community
My commitment to you
It’s been a privilege to serve as your Member for Whitsunday for the last four years. I have worked extremely hard listening to the community and advocating for our region. It has been frustrating representing from opposition, when the government weren’t willing to listen. If successful on Saturday I am commitment to continue working hard for our region and am excited to think of what I can deliver for our region as a part of the government.
